About the Author: Hank Lewis
Hank Lewis was born in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents lived in a tiny trailer in Decatur, GA and barely made it to the hospital for the birth of their second son. They stayed in Decatur as long as they could since it was Christmas Eve and they also had a two and a half year old at home. Hank was born within 20 minutes of arriving at the Crawford Long Memorial Hospital. What a great Christmas present to get at 2:00 AM!
The first three years of Hank’s life were spent moving from place to place as his father worked for the telephone company. Around 3 years old they settled in Macon, GA which is where Hank grew up and attended school. While not going into great detail, Hank has had a wide variety of interests throughout his life. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia College and began teaching college-level classes in the final year of working towards his Master’s degree. During this time period he was also working as Minister of Youth and Music for Southern Baptist Churches.
Hank worked his way up the corporate ladder (okay, the academic ladder) going from part-time instructor to Associate Professor and has spent many years in academic administration. His favorite job was Academic Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs for a college in Atlanta and his least favorite was President of a college in Florida (too much time spent being nice to people and too little contact with students). He is now working happily at the University of Central Florida enjoying his job and the people with whom he works. Ocassionally, you may see him preaching at a church or two in Orlando, FL–though not a Southern Baptist one. Life is good!
Hank is also webmaster for the Pride Virtual Resource Center at UCF. The web address is www.ucfglbt.com. Happy surfing.
Maybe more will come for this section later–but probably not.
